Top 10 Internet Searches

Read this document on Internet Search tips. Some are tips that we've already discussed in class but others may be new to you. Be sure to read through all 10 tips and then answer the following questions when you have finished. Remember to use proper grammar and spelling when completing your post.

1. What is the "deep web"?
2. How many American adults use search engines on a typical day?
3. What is a specialty search engine?
4. What is a social search?
5. Using a search engine other than Google or Yahoo, perform an advanced search to find only .pdf files with the key words:  dog, canine, or pet. What type of results did you get?

    4.Social Searching is a type of web searching method that determines the relevance of search results by considering the interaction or contribution of users.
    5. When i typed in dogs.pdf i got a page about training dogs, also i got another page about when dogs do certain things what they mean, a page about dog responsibilty, and also a page about how to get dogs to stop barking.

    2. Over sixty million American adults use search engines on a typical day.
    3. A specialty search engine is a search engine that has only information about a specific topic.
    4. A social search is using the public (blogs, yahoo answers, ect) to find information about a topic.
    5. Most items that popped up were about pet care or pet health. There was on article that came up about Positron Emission tomography. There was also pet behavior articles and things such as adopt a pet.

    3. Specialty search engine is a search engine that has info. use for searching about a certain thing.
    4. A social search is when you use the public to find out information on a certain thing.
    5. Most of the things when I got on, I kept coming across things like animals and pet safety. There were all kinds of articles including safety of animals and the environment.

    4. This is a search when you use the general public to find out certain info.
    5. I kept getting like animal and pet safety that had to do with k9 dogs that cops use.

  6. 1. The deep web is often refered to the "invisible web". It is the content on web not accessible through a search on general search engines. 2. Over 60 million adults use the search engine on a typical day. 3. A specialty search engine is a search engine that can focus on just one or two particular product catagories. 4. A social search is a type of web search that takes into account the Social Graph of a person initiating the Search Query. 5. The type of results that I recieved was things such as the educated dog, the fearful dog, backyard dog, etc.

    5. When I searched dogs.pdf on google, i got pages that include: Dog Body Language, Prairie dogs, and Ferel Dogs.

    5)When I searched pet.pdf on Bing some of the results I got where .pdf files of pets.

    3. A specialty search engine is something you can use to search one or two certain subjects.

    4. A Social Search is when you use the information based on other internet users to find what you are looking for.

    5. When I searched canine. PDF some of the options that came up were adoption information, health information, and possible infectious diseases.
